How to take a deposit on a custom jewelry order in Shopify
How it works in Jewelry Studio Manager
Pick the client from your Shopify customers, send a quote they approve online, and raise a Shopify order for the deposit or the full amount. The quote, the client and the commission stay together, so you can see which pieces are waiting for approval.
Quotes, orders and PDF invoices are part of the app. You can also choose which Shopify orders become commissions: orders tagged "commission" (the default), all orders, or none.
When a deposit app is the better choice
| Situation | Better fit |
|---|---|
| Each piece is a one-off: consultation, quote, design approval, then a deposit order | Jewelry Studio Manager (from $9.99/month, 14-day trial, no free plan) |
| You sell listed products and want customers to pay a deposit or instalments at checkout or on the product page | Downpay: Partial Pay & Deposit (from $29/month, 7-day trial, rated 5.0 from 97 reviews on 3 Nov 2026) |
| You need purchase orders, digital signature and deposit in a custom-order workflow, not jewelry-specific | Bevy OrderPilot ($60/month per location, 14-day trial, no reviews yet on 3 Nov 2026) |
Before you rely on it
Jewelry Studio Manager launched on the Shopify App Store on 3 July 2026 and has no reviews yet. Use the 14-day free trial on a real quote before you commit.
Questions
How do I take a deposit on a custom jewelry order in Shopify?
In Jewelry Studio Manager you send the client a quote they approve online, then raise a Shopify order for the deposit or the full amount. If you instead want a deposit option on listed products, a deposit app such as Downpay is built for that.
Can the client approve the quote online?
Yes. The quote is sent to the client and they approve it online before the Shopify order is raised.
Do I need a credit card to try it?
Every plan has a 14-day free trial. On the web version no credit card is needed to start the trial; on Shopify, billing goes through Shopify.
